How To Seal Marble
Marble is a relatively soft natural stone. On the MOH (measure of hardness) scale, marble is only a 3 or 4 out of 10. Compared to granite, which is at least 7 out of 10, this is very soft for a surface material. When used for flooring or counters, marble does need to be sealed. The softness of marble can cause it to scratch easily. It can also absorb moisture and bacteria if it is not sealed.
